Report
cards.
1
Each
semester,
or
the
trimester
or
quarter
equivalent,
the
2
board
of
directors
of
a
school
district
shall
provide
the
3
parent
or
guardian
of
each
student
enrolled
in
the
school
4
district
with
a
printed
copy
of
the
student’s
report
card
in
5
one
of
the
following
ways:

1.
By
mailing
the
report
card
to
the
parent
or
guardian.
7
2.
By
providing
the
report
card
to
the
parent
or
guardian
8
by
hand
delivery.
9
3.
By
providing
the
report
card
to
the
student
during
the
10
school
day
and
directing
the
student
to
take
the
report
card
11
home
to
the
student’s
parent
or
guardian.

Sec.
2.
IMPLEMENTATION
OF
ACT.
Section
25B.2,
subsection
13
3,
shall
not
apply
to
this
Act.

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
requires
school
districts
to
provide
the
parent
18
or
guardian
of
each
student
enrolled
in
the
school
district
19
with
a
printed
copy
of
the
student’s
report
card
each
semester,
20
or
the
trimester
or
quarter
equivalent.
The
bill
establishes
21
that
school
districts
may
fulfill
this
requirement
either
by
22
mailing
the
report
card
to
the
parent
or
guardian,
by
providing
23
the
report
card
to
the
parent
or
guardian
by
hand
delivery,
or
24
by
providing
the
report
card
to
the
student
and
directing
the
25
student
to
take
the
report
card
home
to
the
student’s
parent
26
or
guardian.

The
bill
may
include
a
state
mandate
as
defined
in
Code
28
section
25B.3.
The
bill
makes
inapplicable
Code
section
29
25B.2,
subsection
3,
which
would
relieve
a
school
district
30
from
complying
with
a
state
mandate
if
funding
for
the
cost
of
31
the
state
mandate
is
not
provided
or
specified.
Therefore,
32
school
districts
are
required
to
comply
with
any
state
mandate
33
included
in
the
bill.
