Motor
grader
operator
1
training.

1.
A
county,
including
the
board
of
supervisors
and
the

county
engineer,
shall
not
employ
or
contract
with
a
person
to
4
operate
a
motor
grader
unless
the
person
completes
motor
grader
5
operator
training
before
the
person
operates
a
motor
grader.

This
subsection
applies
to
persons
employed
or
contracted
to
7
operate
a
motor
grader
on
secondary
roads
if
the
person
has
8
fewer
than
five
years
of
experience
operating
a
motor
grader.

2.
Motor
grader
operator
training
must
include
training
10
in
a
classroom
setting
focusing
on
the
concepts
described
in
11
subsection
3,
and
training
behind
the
wheel
of
a
motor
grader
12
substantially
similar
to
the
motor
grader
the
person
will
use
13
during
the
person’s
employment.

3.
Motor
grader
operator
training
must
include
but
is
not
15
limited
to
all
of
the
following:
16
a.
Ideal
roadway
profile
designs
and
application.
17
b.
Proper
grading
techniques
to
ensure
sufficient
drainage
18
on
roadways.

c.
Standard
roadway
and
shoulder
maintenance
methods.

This
bill
prohibits
a
county
from
employing
or
contracting

with
a
person
to
operate
a
motor
grader
on
secondary
roads

unless
the
person
completes
motor
grader
operator
training
if

the
person
has
fewer
than
five
years
of
experience.

Motor
grader
operator
training
must
include
training
in
a

classroom
setting
focusing
on
ideal
roadway
profile
designs
and

application,
proper
grading
techniques,
and
standard
roadway
30
and
shoulder
maintenance
methods.
Motor
grader
operator

training
must
also
include
training
behind
the
wheel
of
a
motor

grader
substantially
similar
to
the
motor
grader
the
person

will
use
during
the
person’s
employment.
