H.F. 2085 Section 1. MEDICAID MANAGED CARE ORGANIZATION 1 REIMBURSEMENT —— PHARMACIST ADMINISTRATION OF IMMUNIZATIONS 2 AND VACCINATIONS. A Medicaid managed care organization shall 3 reimburse a network pharmacist for both the cost of a vaccine 4 or immunization, and for the cost of administering the vaccine 5 or immunization for any vaccine or immunization the pharmacist 6 is authorized to administer, including pursuant to section 7 155A.46. 8 EXPLANATION 9 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 10 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 11 This bill relates to reimbursement of pharmacists for the 12 cost and administration of immunizations and vaccinations by 13 Medicaid managed care organizations. 14 The bill requires Medicaid managed care organizations to 15 reimburse a network pharmacist for both the cost of a vaccine 16 or immunization, and for the administration of the vaccine or 17 immunization for any vaccine or immunization the pharmacist is 18 authorized to administer, including pursuant to Code section 19 155A.46 (statewide protocols). Code section 155A.46 authorizes 20 a pharmacist, pursuant to statewide protocols and in accordance 21 with requirements relating to review of the statewide registry, 22 recordkeeping, notifications, and continuing education, to 23 order and administer certain vaccines, immunizations, and other 24 products. 25 -1- LSB 5569YH (5) 90 pf/ko 1/ 1
