H.F. 2079 Section 1. Section 331.901, subsection 5, Code 2024, is 1 amended to read as follows: 2 5. A county or township officer or employee shall not 3 appropriate, give, or loan public funds to or in favor of 4 an institution, school, association, or object which that is 5 under ecclesiastical or sectarian management or control unless 6 the public funds are to be utilized for a project or program 7 that benefits the public and does not require any religious 8 or secular services, educational programs, or participation 9 requirements . 10 EXPLANATION 11 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 12 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 13 This bill relates to the use of county funds by 14 ecclesiastical and sectarian institutions. The bill allows 15 public funds to be utilized by an ecclesiastical or sectarian 16 institution for a project or program if it benefits the 17 public. The project or program using public funds must not 18 require religious or secular services, educational programs, or 19 participation requirements.
