S.F. _____ Section 1. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION —— WORKING GROUP —— 1 INSTRUCTION AND EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES RELATED TO ARCHERY 2 AND CROSSBOWS. 3 1. The department of education, in collaboration with the 4 department of natural resources, shall convene and provide 5 administrative support to a working group that shall study 6 the feasibility of integrating crossbow instruction into the 7 physical education curriculum and extracurricular programs 8 provided to students enrolled in grades seven through twelve 9 to provide equal access to archery participation in order to 10 comply with Tit. IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Pub. 11 L. No. 92-318. 12 2. Any expenses incurred by a member of the working group 13 shall be the responsibility of the individual member or the 14 respective entity represented by the member. 15 3. The working group shall submit its findings and 16 recommendations to the general assembly in a report on or 17 before December 31, 2022. 18 EXPLANATION 19 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 20 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 21 This bill requires the department of education to convene 22 a working group to study the feasibility of integrating 23 crossbow instruction into the physical education curriculum and 24 extracurricular programs. 25 The bill directs the department of education to convene 26 a working group to study the feasibility of integrating 27 crossbow instruction into the physical education curriculum 28 and extracurricular programs provided to students enrolled 29 in grades 7 through 12 to provide equal access to archery 30 participation in order to comply with Tit.
