Section 21.8, subsection 1, unnumbered paragraph 1 1, Code 2022, is amended to read as follows: 2 A governmental body may conduct a meeting by electronic 3 means only in circumstances where such a meeting in person is 4 impossible or impractical and only if the governmental body 5 complies with all of the following: 6 EXPLANATION 7 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 8 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 9 This bill relates to electronic meetings of a governmental 10 body under Code chapter 21 (open meetings). The bill allows 11 a governmental body to conduct a meeting by electronic means 12 even when it is possible or practical to conduct the meeting 13 in person if the governmental body complies with certain 14 procedural requirements. Under current law, a governmental 15 body is only allowed to conduct a meeting by electronic means 16 if it is impossible or impractical for the meeting to be 17 held in person and if in compliance with certain procedural 18 requirements. 19 -1- LSB 6161XC (4) 89 cm/rh 1/ 1
