NEW SECTION . 279.16C Volunteer substitute 1 teachers. 2 The board of directors of a school district may engage an 3 individual to serve without compensation or remuneration as a 4 substitute teacher if the individual possesses a license or 5 authorization issued by the board of educational examiners 6 that allows the individual to substitute for or replace the 7 functions and duties of a teacher. Section 279.69 applies to 8 substitute teachers engaged by the board of directors of a 9 school district under this section. 10 EXPLANATION 11 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 12 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 13 This bill authorizes the boards of directors of school 14 districts to engage certain specified individuals to serve 15 without compensation as substitute teachers. 16 The bill authorizes the board of directors of a school 17 district to engage an individual to serve without compensation 18 or remuneration as a substitute teacher if the individual 19 possesses a license or authorization issued by the board of 20 educational examiners that allows the individual to substitute 21 for or replace the functions and duties of a teacher.
