S.F. _____ Section 1. Section 99B.27, subsection 2, paragraph o, Code 1 2021, is amended to read as follows: 2 o. A qualified organization representing veterans licensed 3 under this section shall not hold more than two card game 4 tournaments per month and shall not hold a card game tournament 5 within seven six calendar days of another card game tournament 6 conducted by that qualified organization representing veterans. 7 Card game tournaments held during a game night conducted 8 pursuant to section 99B.26 shall not count toward the limit 9 of one card game tournament per week six calendar days for a 10 license holder. A qualified organization representing veterans 11 shall be allowed to hold only one card game tournament during 12 any period of twenty-four consecutive hours, starting from the 13 time the card game tournament begins. 14 EXPLANATION 15 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 16 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 17 This bill concerns the frequency and timing of card game 18 tournaments conducted by a qualified organization representing 19 veterans. Current law prohibits the holding of a card game 20 tournament by a qualified veterans organization within seven 21 calendar days of another card game tournament conducted by that 22 organization and limits the maximum number of such card game 23 tournaments to be held in a month to two. The bill eliminates 24 the per-month maximum and only prohibits holding a card game 25 tournament within six calendar days of another card game 26 tournament. 27 -1- LSB 1735XC (2) 89 dg/rn 1/ 1
