1.
Section
35D.13,
subsection
1,
Code
2021,
is
1
amended
to
read
as
follows:

1.
The
governor
shall
appoint
a
commandant,
subject
to
3
senate
confirmation,
who
shall
serve
at
the
pleasure
of
the
4
governor
for
a
term
of
four
years
as
the
chief
executive
of
5
the
home.
A
person
appointed
as
commandant
prior
to
July
6
1,
2021,
shall
not
serve
as
commandant
after
July
1,
2021,
7
without
having
been
reappointed
by
the
governor
and
reconfirmed
8
by
the
senate.
The
commandant
shall
report
directly
to
the
9
commission
and
shall
have
the
immediate
custody
and
control,
10
subject
to
the
orders
of
the
commission,
of
all
property
used
11
in
connection
with
the
home.

inclusion

does

constitute
agreement
with

the
members

the

This
bill
relates
to
the
appointment
and
term
of
service
of

the
commandant
of
the
Iowa
veterans
home.

The
bill
sets
a
limit
of
four
years
for
a
person
to
serve
as
18
commandant
of
the
Iowa
veterans
home.
19
The
bill
prohibits
any
person
appointed
as
commandant
prior
20
to
July
1,
2021,
from
serving
as
commandant
after
July
1,
21
2021,
until
that
person
is
reappointed
by
the
governor
and
22
reconfirmed
by
the
senate.
