Senate Resolution 123 - Introduced SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 123 BY COMMITTEE ON RULES AND ADMINISTRATION A Resolution honoring Senator Roby Smith for his 1 service in the Iowa Senate. 2 WHEREAS, Senator Roby Smith was first elected to the 3 Iowa Senate in November 2010 to serve Senate district 4 41 and has proudly served Senate district 47 since 5 2013; and 6 WHEREAS, Senator Smith earned a bachelor of science 7 degree in business administration with a minor in 8 communications and brought valuable experience in small 9 business ownership to the Senate; and 10 WHEREAS, Senator Smith has served on numerous 11 legislative committees during his time in the Senate, 12 including the Commerce, Rules and Administration, State 13 Government (Chairperson), Ways and Means, and Local 14 Government (Ranking Member) standing committees, the 15 Tax Expenditure Committee of the legislative council, 16 and the State Government Efficiency Review Committee 17 (Co-Chairperson); and 18 WHEREAS, Senator Smith has also served on the 19 Statewide Fire and Police Retirement System Board of 20 Trustees; and 21 WHEREAS, during his tenure in the Senate, Senator 22 Smith has worked tirelessly to reform elections in 23 Iowa, lessen the burdens of professional licensure 24 and regulation on Iowans, and increase the efficiency 25 of the operations of the boards, commissions, and 26 departments of the state; and 27 WHEREAS, despite his numerous legislative 28 -1- LSB 6264SV (2) 89 ss/rn 1/ 2
