Senate Resolution 112 - Introduced SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 112 BY COMMITTEE ON RULES AND ADMINISTRATION A Resolution honoring Senator Jim Carlin for his 1 service in the Iowa Senate. 2 WHEREAS, Senator Jim Carlin was first elected to the 3 Iowa House of Representatives in 2016 and to the Iowa 4 Senate in 2017 representing District 3, which covers 5 portions of Plymouth and Woodbury counties; and 6 WHEREAS, through his service with the United States 7 Army and over 20 years’ work as a trial attorney, 8 Senator Carlin brought an extensive legal background 9 and knowledge of veterans issues to the Senate; and 10 WHEREAS, during his time in the Senate, Senator 11 Carlin has fought for fiscal responsibility, tax 12 reform, and restraints on government, and defended the 13 rights and freedom of Iowans; and 14 WHEREAS, during his Senate tenure, Senator Carlin 15 has served on the Education, Ethics (Vice Chairperson), 16 Human Resources, Labor and Business Relations, 17 Natural Resources and Environment, State Government, 18 Transportation, Veterans Affairs (Chairperson), and 19 Ways and Means standing committees; the Education (Vice 20 Chairperson) and Justice System (Vice Chairperson) 21 appropriations subcommittees; the Administrative Rules 22 Review Committee; the Child Care Advisory Committee, 23 Commercial Air Service Retention and Expansion 24 Committee, Family Development and Self-Sufficiency 25 Council, and Statewide Fire and Police Retirement 26 System Board of Trustees; and 27 WHEREAS, Senator Carlin has further demonstrated 28 -1- LSB 6256SV (3) 89 je/rn 1/ 2
