S.F. 57 Section 1. Section 20.15, subsection 2, Code 2021, is 1 amended by adding the following new paragraph: 2 NEW PARAGRAPH . c. The board shall only conduct an election 3 pursuant to this subsection if the board has not previously 4 conducted such an election for the bargaining unit since the 5 last certification election pursuant to subsection 1 conducted 6 by the board for that bargaining unit. 7 EXPLANATION 8 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 9 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 10 Current law provides that the public employment relations 11 board shall conduct a retention and certification election 12 prior to the expiration of a public employee collective 13 bargaining unit’s collective bargaining agreement. 14 This bill provides that the board shall only conduct 15 a retention and certification election for a collective 16 bargaining unit if the board has not previously conducted such 17 an election since the collective bargaining representative for 18 that collective bargaining unit was certified. 19 -1- LSB 1261XS (1) 89 je/rn 1/ 1
