S.F. 569 Section 1. Section 100.19, subsection 7, paragraph b, Code 1 2021, is amended by striking the paragraph and inserting in 2 lieu thereof the following: 3 b. The state fire marshal shall establish a local fire 4 protection and emergency medical service providers grant 5 program to provide grants in the following order of priority: 6 (1) Local fire protection service providers and local 7 emergency medical service providers to establish or provide 8 fireworks safety education programming to members of the 9 public, and for the purchase of necessary enforcement, 10 protection, or emergency response equipment related to the sale 11 and use of consumer fireworks in this state. 12 (2) Local volunteer fire protection service providers for 13 the purchase of necessary enforcement, protection, or emergency 14 response equipment. 15 EXPLANATION 16 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 17 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 18 This bill relates to the local fire protection and emergency 19 medical service providers grant program. 20 The bill authorizes the state fire marshal to provide grants 21 under the local fire protection and emergency medical service 22 providers grant program to local volunteer fire protection 23 service providers for the purchase of necessary equipment, in 24 addition to the current authorization to provide grants to 25 local fire protection service providers and local emergency 26 medical service providers to provide fireworks safety education 27 programming and to purchase necessary equipment related to 28 the sale and use of consumer fireworks.
