S.F. 528 Section 1. Section 229.1, Code 2021, is amended by adding 1 the following new subsection: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 17A. “Report” , when used in reference to 3 a document prepared by a chief medical officer, chief officer 4 of a federal facility, licensed physician, or mental health 5 professional, means a medical recommendation that may also 6 contain a patient’s medical information including but not 7 limited to the patient’s condition, prognosis, and care plan. 8 EXPLANATION 9 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 10 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 11 This bill relates to reports prepared by a chief medical 12 officer, licensed physician, or a mental health professional 13 concerning the hospitalization of a person with a mental 14 illness. 15 The bill defines “report”, for the purposes of Code chapter 16 229 (hospitalization of persons with mental health), when used 17 in reference to a document prepared by a chief medical officer, 18 chief officer of a federal facility, licensed physician, or 19 mental health professional, as a medical recommendation that 20 may also contain a patient’s medical information including but 21 not limited to the patient’s condition, prognosis, and care 22 plan. 23 -1- LSB 2780SV (1) 89 dg/rh 1/ 1
