Section
229.1,
Code
2021,
is
amended
by
adding

the
following
new
subsection:

NEW
SUBSECTION
.
17A.
“Report”
,
when
used
in
reference
to

a
document
prepared
by
a
chief
medical
officer,
chief
officer
4
of
a
federal
facility,
licensed
physician,
or
mental
health
5
professional,
means
a
medical
recommendation
that
may
also
6
contain
a
patient’s
medical
information
including
but
not
7
limited
to
the
patient’s
condition,
prognosis,
and
care
plan.

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
10
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
relates
to
reports
prepared
by
a
chief
medical

officer,
licensed
physician,
or
a
mental
health
professional
13
concerning
the
hospitalization
of
a
person
with
a
mental
14
illness.

The
bill
defines
“report”,
for
the
purposes
of
Code
chapter
16
229
(hospitalization
of
persons
with
mental
health),
when
used
17
in
reference
to
a
document
prepared
by
a
chief
medical
officer,
18
chief
officer
of
a
federal
facility,
licensed
physician,
or
19
mental
health
professional,
as
a
medical
recommendation
that
20
may
also
contain
a
patient’s
medical
information
including
but
21
not
limited
to
the
patient’s
condition,
prognosis,
and
care

plan.
