Volunteer
substitute

The
board
of
directors
of
a
school
district
may
engage
an

individual
to
serve
without
compensation
or
remuneration
as
a

substitute
teacher
if
the
individual
possesses
a
substitute
5
license
or
a
substitute
authorization
issued
by
the
board
of
6
educational
examiners
and
the
individual
is
not
a
member
of
7
the
board
of
directors
of
the
school
district
or
employed
8
by
the
board
of
directors
of
the
school
district.
Section
9
279.69
applies
to
substitute
teachers
engaged
by
the
board
of
10
directors
of
a
school
district
under
this
section.

does

constitute

members

bill
authorizes
the
boards
of
directors
of
school

certain
specified
individuals
to
serve

compensation
as
substitute
teachers.

The
bill
authorizes
the
board
of
directors
of
a
school

district
to
engage
an
individual
to
serve
without
compensation
19
or
remuneration
as
a
substitute
teacher
if
the
individual
20
possesses
a
substitute
license
or
a
substitute
authorization
21
issued
by
the
board
of
educational
examiners
and
the
individual
22
is
not
a
member
of
the
board
of
directors
of
the
school
23
district
or
employed
by
the
board
of
directors
of
the
school
24
district.
The
bill
provides
that
the
requirements
related
to
25
background
checks
apply
to
these
substitute
teachers.
