TASK
FORCE.

1.
The
department
of
education
shall
convene
and
provide

administrative
support
to
a
special
education
task
force
that
4
shall
study
and
make
recommendations
regarding
how
to
better
5
serve
students
enrolled
in
nonpublic
schools
who
receive
6
special
education
services,
especially
those
students
who
7
reside
in
rural
areas
of
the
state.

2.
The
task
force
shall
consist
of
the
following
members:
9
a.
A
director
of
special
education
of
an
area
education
10
agency.
11
b.
A
chief
administrator
of
an
area
education
agency.
12
c.
A
representative
of
an
accredited
nonpublic
secondary
13
school.
14
d.
A
representative
of
an
accredited
nonpublic
elementary
15
school.
16
e.
A
special
education
director
of
a
school
district.
17
f.
A
superintendent
of
a
school
district.
18
g.
An
attorney
employed
by
the
department
of
education
who
19
is
familiar
with
the
state
and
federal
laws
governing
special
20
education.

h.
The
chief
of
the
special
education
bureau
of
the
22
department
of
education,
or
the
chief’s
designee.
23
i.
An
attorney
who
is
familiar
with
the
state
and
federal
24
laws
governing
special
education
and
who
is
not
employed
by
the
25
state
or
a
political
subdivision
of
the
state.

j.
A
parent
or
guardian
of
a
student
who
is
enrolled
in
a
27
nonpublic
school,
receives
special
education
services,
and
who
28
resides
in
a
rural
area.

k.
A
parent
or
guardian
of
a
student
who
is
enrolled
in
a
30
nonpublic
school,
receives
special
education
services,
and
who
31
resides
in
an
urban
area.

3.
The
task
force
shall
submit
a
report,
including
findings
33
and
recommendations
for
policy
changes,
to
the
general
assembly

by
December
1,
2022.

the
task
force.
The

establishes
the
composition
of
the
membership
of
the
task

force.
Additionally,
the
bill
requires
the
task
force
to
study

and
make
recommendations
regarding
how
to
better
serve
students

enrolled
in
nonpublic
schools
who
receive
special
education
12
services.

The
bill
requires
the
task
force
to
submit
a
report
that
14
includes
findings
and
recommendations
for
policy
changes
to
the

general
assembly
by

1,
2022.
