ACROSS
THE
STATE
OF
IOWA.
A
law

enforcement
officer
exercising
the
general
powers
of
a
3
law
enforcement
officer
within
the
limits
of
a
city
or
the
4
unincorporated
area
of
a
county
shall
not
interfere
with
the
5
operation
of
a
business
establishment
or
nonprofit
organization
6
that
is
not
operating
in
violation
of
any
city
or
county
7
ordinance
during
an
annual
recreational
bicycle
ride
across
the
8
state.
For
purposes
of
this
section,
“law
enforcement
officer”
9
means
a
member
of
a
police
force
or
other
agency
or
department
10
of
the
state,
county,
or
city
regularly
employed
as
such
and
11
who
is
responsible
for
the
prevention
and
detection
of
crime
12
and
the
enforcement
of
the
criminal
laws
of
this
state.

This
bill
relates
to
the
authority
of
a
law
enforcement

officer
over
local
businesses
operating
during
an
annual

recreational
bicycle
ride
across
the
state.

The
bill
provides
that
a
law
enforcement
officer
exercising
20
the
general
powers
of
a
law
enforcement
officer
within
the
21
limits
of
a
city
or
the
unincorporated
area
of
a
county
shall
22
not
interfere
with
the
operation
of
a
business
establishment
23
or
nonprofit
organization
that
is
not
operating
in
violation
24
of
any
city
or
county
ordinance
during
an
annual
recreational
25
bicycle
ride
across
the
state
of
Iowa.

The
bill
defines
“law
enforcement
officer”
as
a
member
27
of
a
police
force
or
other
agency
or
department
of
the
28
state,
county,
or
city
regularly
employed
as
such
and
who
is
29
responsible
for
the
prevention
and
detection
of
crime
and
the
30
enforcement
of
the
criminal
laws
of
this
state.
