1.
Section
262.9,
Code
2022,
is
amended
by
adding
1
the
following
new
subsection:

NEW
SUBSECTION

39.
Require
each
of
the
institutions

of
higher
education
governed
by
the
board
to
offer
an

undergraduate
program
that
does
not
require
a
student
to
5
complete
general
education
courses
or
any
other
courses
that
6
are
not
directly
related
to
the
student’s
major
or
course
of
7
study.
Graduates
of
the
undergraduate
program
established
8
pursuant
to
this
subsection
shall
receive
degrees,
diplomas,
or
9
other
evidences
of
distinction.

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
relates
to
the
undergraduate
programs
offered
by

the
institutions
of
higher
education
governed
by
the
state

board
of
regents.

The
bill
requires
each
of
the
institutions
of
higher
17
education
governed
by
the
board
to
offer
an
undergraduate
18
program
that
does
not
require
a
student
to
complete
general
19
education
courses
or
any
other
courses
that
are
not
directly
20
related
to
the
student’s
major
or
course
of
study.
The
bill
21
provides
that
graduates
of
this
program
shall
receive
degrees,
22
diplomas,
or
other
evidences
of
distinction.
