S.F. 2008 Section 1. NEW SECTION . 135B.36 Maternal health best 1 practices or safety bundles. 2 A hospital licensed under this chapter that provides labor 3 and delivery services shall adopt and implement the current 4 best practices or safety bundles recommended by the American 5 college of obstetricians and gynecologists and the alliance 6 for innovation on maternal health including but not limited to 7 action measures for obstetrical hemorrhage, severe hypertension 8 or preeclampsia, prevention of venous thromboembolism, 9 reduction of low-risk primary cesarean births and support 10 for intended vaginal births, reduction of peripartum racial 11 disparities, and postpartum care access and standards. 12 EXPLANATION 13 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 14 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 15 This bill relates to maternal health best practices or 16 safety bundle requirements for hospitals.
