H.F. _____ Section 1. Section 80B.11, subsection 1, paragraph l, Code 1 2022, is amended by striking the paragraph. 2 Sec. 2. Section 80B.15, subsection 1, Code 2022, is amended 3 by striking the subsection. 4 EXPLANATION 5 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 6 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 7 This bill relates to the Iowa law enforcement academy 8 (academy). 9 The bill strikes the requirement that the director of the 10 academy promulgate rules relating to the certification through 11 examination of individuals who have successfully completed 12 the federal bureau of investigation national academy, have 13 corrected Snellen vision in both eyes of 20/20 or better, and 14 were employed on or before January 1, 1996, as chief of police 15 of a city in this state with a population of 20,000 or more. 16 The bill strikes the requirement that the academy shall be 17 the principal law enforcement library and media resource center 18 and shall coordinate the use of law enforcement media resources 19 with training centers and educational institutions offering a 20 two-year program in law enforcement to insure for the efficient 21 use of state law enforcement media resources. 22 -1- LSB 5991YC (5) 89 as/rh 1/ 1
