Section
29A.43,
subsections
2
and
4,
Code
2022,

are
amended
to
read
as
follows:

2.
An
officer
or
enlisted
person
of
the
national
guard
or

organized
reserves
of
the
armed
forces
of
the
United
States,
4
any
member
of
the
civil
air
patrol,
or
any
regular,
reserve,
5
or
auxiliary
member
of
the
United
States
coast
guard,
who
is
6
insured
as
a
dependent
under
a
group
policy
for
accident
or
7
health
insurance
as
a
full-time
student
less
than
twenty-five
8
years
of
age,
whose
coverage
under
the
group
policy
would
9
otherwise
terminate
while
the
officer
or
enlisted
person
10
was
on
a
leave
of
absence
during
a
period
of
temporary
duty
11
or
service,
as
defined
for
members
of
the
national
guard
in
12
section
29A.1,
subsection
3,
8,
or
12
,
while
performing
duties
13
as
a
member
of
the
civil
air
patrol
pursuant
to
section
29A.3A,
14
or
as
a
member
of
the
organized
reserves
called
to
active
duty
15
from
a
reserve
component
status,
or
as
a
regular,
reserve,
or
16
auxiliary
member
of
the
United
States
coast
guard,
shall
be
17
considered
to
have
been
continuously
insured
under
the
group
18
policy
for
the
purpose
of
returning
to
the
insured
dependent
19
status
as
a
full-time
student
who
is
less
than
twenty-five
20
years
of
age.
This
subsection
does
not
apply
to
coverage
of
21
an
injury
suffered
or
a
disease
contracted
by
a
member
of
the
22
national
guard
or
organized
reserves
of
the
armed
forces
of
23
the
United
States
,
any
member
of
the
civil
air
patrol,
or
any
24
regular,
reserve,
or
auxiliary
member
of
the
United
States
25
coast
guard
in
the
line
of
duty.

4.
The
protections
provided
for
in
this
section
shall
apply
27
with
equal
force
to
members
of
the
national
guard
of
another
28
state,
an
organized
reserve
unit
in
another
state,
any
regular,
29
reserve,
or
auxiliary
member
of
the
United
States
coast
guard
30
in
another
state,
or
a
civil
air
patrol
unit
in
another
state
31
who
are
employed
in
this
state.

This
bill
relates
to
protections
for

The
bill
requires
that
if
a
member
of
the
civil
air
patrol
3
who
is
insured
as
a
dependent
under
a
group
policy
for
accident
4
or
health
insurance
as
a
full-time
student
less
than
25
years
5
of
age,
whose
coverage
under
the
group
policy
would
otherwise
6
terminate
while
the
member
is
performing
duties
as
a
member
7
of
the
civil
air
patrol,
the
member
shall
be
considered
to
8
have
been
continuously
insured
under
the
group
policy
for
the
9
purpose
of
returning
to
the
insured
dependent
status
as
a
10
full-time
student
who
is
less
than

years
of
age.

The
bill
makes
current
provisions
which
do
not
extend
group
12
policy
insurance
coverage
to
an
injury
suffered
or
a
disease

contracted
in
the
line
of
duty
applicable
a
member
of
the
civil
14
air
patrol
or
any
regular,
reserve,
or
auxiliary
member
of
the
15
United
States
coast
guard.

The
bill
extends
the
protections
in
Code
section
29A.43
17
relating
to
discrimination,
leaves
of
absence,
and
continuation
18
of
health
coverage
to
any
regular,
reserve,
or
auxiliary
member
19
of
the
United
States
coast
guard
in
another
state
who
is
20
employed
in
this
state.
