1.
DEPARTMENT
OF
HUMAN
SERVICES

EXPANSION
OF
BED
1
CAPACITY
AT
MENTAL
HEALTH
INSTITUTES.
There
is
appropriated
2
from
the
general
fund
of
the
state
to
the
department
of
human
3
services
for
the
fiscal
year
beginning
July
1,
2022,
and
4
ending
June
30,
2023,
an
amount
necessary
to
be
used
for
the
5
purposes
of
expanding
bed
capacity
at
the
state
mental
health
6
institute
at
Cherokee
by
an
additional
twelve
adult
beds
and
7
six
adolescent
beds,
and
expanding
the
bed
capacity
at
the
8
state
mental
health
institute
at
Independence
by
an
additional
9
twenty
adult
beds
and
eight
adolescent
beds.
10
Notwithstanding
section
8.33,
moneys
appropriated
that
11
remain
unencumbered
or
unobligated
at
the
close
of
the
12
fiscal
year
shall
not
revert
but
shall
remain
available
for
13
expenditure
for
the
purposes
designated
until
the
close
of
the
14
succeeding
fiscal
year.

Sec.
2.
EFFECTIVE
DATE.
This
Act,
being
deemed
of
immediate
16
importance,
takes
effect
upon
enactment.

EXPLANATION
18
The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
19
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
appropriates
moneys
to
the
department
of
human
21
services
for
FY
2022-2023
an
amount
necessary
to
expand
the
22
bed
capacity
of
the
mental
health
institute
at
Cherokee
by
an
23
additional
12
adult
beds
and
6
adolescent
beds,
and
to
expand
24
the
bed
capacity
of
the
mental
health
institute
at
Independence
25
by
an
additional
20
adult
beds
and
8
adolescent
beds.
Moneys
26
appropriated
that
remain
unencumbered
or
unobligated
at
the
27
close
of
the
fiscal
year
shall
not
revert
but
shall
remain
28
available
for
expenditure
for
the
purposes
designated
until
the
29
close
of
the
succeeding
fiscal
year.
30
The
bill
takes
effect
upon
enactment.
