H.F. _____ Section 1. Section 256.11, subsection 5, paragraph g, Code 1 2021, is amended by adding the following new subparagraph: 2 NEW SUBPARAGRAPH . (4) A student who is enrolled in a 3 junior reserve officers’ training corps is exempt from the 4 requirement to participate in physical education activities 5 under subparagraph (1), but shall receive one-eighth unit of 6 physical education credit for each semester the student is 7 enrolled in the junior reserve officers’ training corps. 8 EXPLANATION 9 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 10 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 11 This bill provides that a student who is enrolled in junior 12 reserve officers’ training corps is exempt from the requirement 13 to participate in physical education, but shall receive 14 one-eighth unit of physical education credit for each semester 15 the student is enrolled in the junior reserve officers’ 16 training corps. 17 -1- LSB 2750YC (2) 89 kh/jh 1/ 1
