Biden as the 1 legitimately elected President of the United States. 2 WHEREAS, the United States of America is a 3 constitutional federal republic founded on democratic 4 principles respected worldwide by nations aspiring to 5 our ideals; and 6 WHEREAS, state-organized plebiscites concluding on 7 November 3, 2020, were held, in part, to elect the 8 President of the United States, and they were conducted 9 in an open, free, and fair manner; and 10 WHEREAS, after several counts, recounts, and legal 11 challenges in multiple states and the United States 12 Supreme Court, the results confirm that a majority of 13 voters in states representing a majority of electors 14 voted for Joseph R. Biden to become President of the 15 United States; and 16 WHEREAS, on December 14, 2020, the Electoral College 17 of the United States affirmed Joseph R. Biden as the 18 President-elect of the United States; and 19 WHEREAS, on January 7, 2021, Congress certified 20 Joseph R. Biden as the President-elect of the United 21 States; and 22 WHEREAS, in response to the turmoil within 23 our country since the election concluded, and in 24 condemnation of the January 6, 2021, assault on our 25 nation’s Capitol, the State of Iowa must uphold our 26 commitment to the peaceful transfer of power that is 27 the hallmark of a strong and unified democracy; NOW 28 -1- LSB 2785HH (1) 89 dg/rn 1/ 2
H.R. 9 THEREFORE, 1 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, That 2 the House of Representatives recognizes Joseph R.
