recognizing
Iowa’s
commitment
to
private

property
rights,
to
the
Iowans
employed
in
the

livestock
industry,
and
the
threat
that
socialism

poses
to
the
rights
of
Iowans
to
make
their
own

choices
free
from
government
coercion
regarding
the
5
production
of
livestock
and
the
consumption
of
food
6
including
meat.

WHEREAS,
the
House
of
Representatives
wholly
8
supports
the
goals
of
rising
wages,
competitive
9
business
practices,
and
healthy
Iowa-grown
food;
and
10
WHEREAS,
the
House
of
Representatives
affirms
every
11
Iowan’s
right
to
decide
for
themselves
what
kinds
of
12
food
they
wish
to
consume;
and
13
WHEREAS,
the
House
of
Representatives
considers
14
an
economic
system
based
on
entrepreneurship,
free
15
exchange,
and
individual
freedom
as
the
best
way
for
16
Iowans
to
raise
their
own
standard
of
living;
and
17
WHEREAS,
the
House
of
Representatives
steadfastly
18
opposes
plans
to
scapegoat
the
livestock
industry
in

debate
over
climate
change;
and

WHEREAS,
the
House
of
Representatives
firmly
opposes

any
plans
to
negatively
impact
Iowans
engaged
in

the
production
of
livestock
on
farms
and
any
plans

to
negatively
impact
Iowans
employed
directly
or
5
indirectly
in
Iowa’s
livestock
industry;
and
6
WHEREAS,
the
House
of
Representatives
supports
7
Iowans
employed
in
the
field
of
livestock
production
8
and
recognizes
their
commitment
to
the
state
and
to
9
their
communities;
and
10
WHEREAS,
the
House
of
Representatives
opposes
the
11
collectivism
and
socialism
inherent
in
certain
federal
12
economic
plans
presented
for
consideration
by
the
13
United
States
Congress;
and
14
WHEREAS,
the
House
of
Representatives
remains
15
committed
to
our
system
of
free
market
capitalism
which
16
remains
a
better
avenue
for
achieving
success
than
17
Soviet-style
central
economic
planning;
and
18
WHEREAS,
the
House
of
Representatives
opposes
19
government
micromanagement
of
the
private
lives
of
20
Iowans
through
government-approved
and
controlled
21
policies
that
dictate
lifestyle
choices;
NOW
THEREFORE,

BE
IT
RESOLVED
BY
THE
HOUSE
OF
REPRESENTATIVES,

That
the
House
of
Representatives
opposes
policies
24
that
coerce
Iowans
into
making
decisions
that
25
are
against
their
economic
self-interest,
are
26
economically
destructive
to
Iowa’s
small
towns,
and
27
that
deliberately
invade
Iowans’
basic
individual
28
decision-making
freedom;
and
29
BE
IT
FURTHER
RESOLVED
