House Resolution 14 - Introduced HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 14 BY MASCHER A Resolution recognizing and congratulating the 1 University of Iowa Hawkeyes men’s basketball team 2 on the 2020-2021 college basketball season and for 3 qualifying for the 2021 National Collegiate Athletic 4 Association Division 1 men’s basketball tournament 5 as a No. 2 seed in the West Region. 6 WHEREAS, the University of Iowa Hawkeyes men’s 7 basketball team finished fourth in the 2020-2021 Big 8 10 Conference regular-season standings, and finished 9 the regular season ranked as a top-10 team in the 10 nation; and 11 WHEREAS, the team had four players selected as 12 Winter Academic All-Big 10 honorees; and 13 WHEREAS, the team finished the season with the Big 14 10 Conference men’s basketball Player of the Year, 15 Wooden Award winner, Oscar Robertson Trophy winner, 16 Lute Olson Award winner, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award 17 winner, and Naismith Trophy winner, awarded annually 18 to the best player in men’s college basketball, Luka 19 Garza; and 20 WHEREAS, Luka Garza became the school’s first-ever 21 back-to-back and unanimous First Team All-American; and 22 WHEREAS, the team earned a victory in the 2021 23 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division 24 1 men’s basketball tournament over Grand Canyon 25 University; NOW THEREFORE, 26 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, 27 That the House of Representatives congratulates Coach 28 -1- LSB 2801YH (3) 89 th/rn 1/ 2
