WHEREAS,
on
March
17,
during
the
annual
celebration

of
the
Feast
of
Saint
Patrick,
the
Patron
Saint
of

Ireland,
Irish
Americans
join
with
men,
women,
and
5
children
of
all
other
ethnic
origins
who,
for
one
day,
6
become
Irish
and
celebrate
Saint
Patrick
and
the
love
7
of
Ireland;
and
8
WHEREAS,
on
St.
Patrick’s
Day,
all
who
“wear
the
9
green”
live
for
a
day
in
the
spirit
of
Saint
Patrick,
10
Saint
Brigid,
and
Saint
Colmcille;
and
11
WHEREAS,
Irish
immigrants
to
the
United
States
12
helped
form
the
cultural
foundation
of
the
nation
and
13
those
of
Irish
lineage
today
proudly
proclaim
support
14
for
Ireland;
and
15
WHEREAS,
we
celebrate
the
establishment
of
the
16
American
Irish
State
Legislators
Caucus
with
its
aim
17
of
fostering
and
strengthening
the
long-standing
18
relationship
that
exists
between
the
United
States
19
of
America
and
Ireland
to
the
mutual
benefit
of
both
20
countries;
NOW
THEREFORE,
21
BE
IT
RESOLVED
BY
THE
HOUSE
OF
REPRESENTATIVES,
That
22
the
House
of
Representatives
commemorates
the
holiday
23
of
St.
Patrick’s
Day
and
recognizes
the
cultural
24
significance
of
the
Irish
immigration
to
the
United
25
States,
proclaims
support
for
Ireland,
and
joins
with
26
those
both
of
Irish
ancestry
and
“wearing
the
green”
in
27
celebrating
St.
Patrick’s
Day;
and
28

FURTHER
RESOLVED,
That
the
House
of

Representatives
is
authorized
and
directed
to
transmit

a
duly
certified
copy
of
this
resolution
to
Senator

Daly,
Chair

the
Senate
of
Ireland,
which
on
4
this
year
celebrates
its
100-year
anniversary,
and
5
the
national
chairpersons
of
the
American
Irish
State
6
Legislators
Caucus.
