H.F. 94 Section 1. Section 481A.54, Code 2021, is amended by adding 1 the following new subsection: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 2A. A person shall not discharge a firearm 3 from within or on a motor vehicle on a public highway. 4 EXPLANATION 5 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 6 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 7 This bill prohibits the discharge of a firearm from within 8 or on a motor vehicle on a public highway. A violation of the 9 bill is punishable by a scheduled fine of $30. In addition, 10 a person who violates the bill is subject to existing civil 11 damages in Code chapter 481A relating to unlawfully taking 12 an animal. An animal taken by a person while the person is 13 violating the bill is subject to seizure by the director of the 14 department of natural resources or a peace officer. 15 -1- LSB 2030YH (1) 89 js/rh 1/ 1
