H.F. 793 Section 1. Section 256.11, subsection 5, paragraph g, Code 1 2021, is amended by adding the following new subparagraph: 2 NEW SUBPARAGRAPH . (4) A student who is enrolled in a junior 3 reserve officers’ training corps shall not be required to 4 participate in physical education activities under subparagraph 5 (1) or to meet the physical activity requirements of subsection 6 6, paragraph “b” , subparagraph (2), but shall receive 7 one-eighth unit of physical education credit for each semester, 8 or the equivalent, of junior reserve officers’ training corps 9 the student completes. 10 EXPLANATION 11 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 12 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 13 This bill provides that a student who is enrolled in junior 14 reserve officers’ training corps shall not be required to 15 participate in physical education or physical activities under 16 the state’s educational standards, but shall receive one-eighth 17 unit of physical education credit for each semester the student 18 is enrolled in the junior reserve officers’ training corps. 19 -1- LSB 2750HV (2) 89 kh/jh 1/ 1
