H.F. 779 Section 1. Section 562A.12, subsection 3, paragraph a, Code 1 2021, is amended by adding the following new subparagraph: 2 NEW SUBPARAGRAPH . (4) To satisfy debts for a tenant’s 3 delinquent utility account. 4 EXPLANATION 5 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 6 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 7 This bill provides that a landlord may withhold from a 8 tenant’s security deposit amounts as reasonably necessary to 9 pay for delinquent utility accounts the tenant was responsible 10 to pay during the tenancy. 11 -1- LSB 2467HV (2) 89 cm/jh 1/ 1
