H.F. 673 Section 1. Section 237A.1, subsections 6 and 7, Code 2021, 1 are amended to read as follows: 2 6. “Child care home” means a person or program providing 3 child care to five or fewer children at any one time that is not 4 registered to provide child care as a child development home 5 under this chapter , except as authorized provided under section 6 237A.3 . 7 7. “Child development home” means a person or program 8 registered under section 237A.3A that may provide child care to 9 six or more children at any one time . 10 Sec. 2. Section 237A.3, subsection 1, Code 2021, is amended 11 to read as follows: 12 1. A person or program providing child care to five children 13 or fewer at any one time is a child care home provider and 14 is not required to register under section 237A.3A as a child 15 development home . However, unless the person providing the 16 child care or operating the program may register as a child 17 development home is a parent, aunt, uncle, grandparent, or 18 adult sibling of a child receiving child care from the person 19 or program . 20 EXPLANATION 21 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 22 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 23 This bill requires child care homes to register as child 24 development homes and provides exceptions. 25 The bill changes the definition of “child care home” to 26 a person or program providing child care to five or fewer 27 children at any one time that is registered to provide child 28 care under this Code chapter, except as authorized under Code 29 section 237A.3. The bill makes a conforming change to the 30 definition of “child development home”. 31 The bill requires a child care home to register as a child 32 development home unless the person providing the child care or 33 operating the program is a parent, aunt, uncle, grandparent, or 34 adult sibling of a child receiving child care from the person 35 -1- LSB 2429YH (5) 89 dg/rh 1/ 2
