H.F. 630 Section 1. Section 237A.12, Code 2021, is amended by adding 1 the following new subsection: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 6. Rules adopted relating to physical 3 examination requirements for licensed or registered facility 4 personnel and the children being provided child care by the 5 licensed or registered facility shall allow for any licensed 6 physician as defined in section 135.1 to perform the physical 7 examination. 8 EXPLANATION 9 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 10 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 11 This bill requires the department of human services to allow 12 certain licensed physicians to perform physical examinations 13 required for personnel and children in child care facilities. 14 The bill requires the department of human services to 15 allow any person licensed to practice medicine and surgery, 16 osteopathic medicine and surgery, chiropractic, podiatry, or 17 optometry under the laws of this state to perform physical 18 examinations required for personnel and children in child care 19 facilities. Under current rules, child care center facility 20 personnel, children attending a child care center, and child 21 development home personnel must be examined by a licensed 22 medical doctor, doctor of osteopathy, physician assistant, or 23 advanced registered nurse practitioner, and children attending 24 a child development home must be examined by a licensed 25 physician or a designee in a clinic supervised by a licensed 26 physician.
