Section
1.
Section
694.10,
Code
2021,
is
amended
by
adding
1
the
following
new
subsection:

NEW
SUBSECTION
.
7.
After
a
person
reported
missing
has
3
been
missing
for
five
or
more
years,
up
to
two
immediate
family
4
members
of
the
missing
person
shall
be
allowed
to
view
the
5
missing
person
report
compiled
pursuant
to
section
694.3
and
6
any
updated
information
relating
to
the
missing
person
report
7
submitted
to
the
missing
person
information
clearinghouse.
8
The
department
of
public
safety
may
authorize
more
than
two
9
immediate
family
members
of
the
missing
person
to
view
the
10
report,
provided,
however,
that
an
immediate
family
member
11
who
is
currently
a
suspect
in
an
active
investigation
by
12
law
enforcement
concerning
the
missing
person
shall
not
be
13
allowed
to
view
the
missing
person
report.
Persons
viewing
14
the
report
shall
not
photograph,
share,
or
otherwise
publish
15
the
contents
of
the
report.
For
purposes
of
this
subsection,
16
“immediate
family
member”
means
a
husband
or
wife;
natural
or
17
adoptive
parent,
child,
or
sibling;
stepparent,
stepchild,
18
or
stepsibling;
father-in-law,
mother-in-law,
son-in-law,
19
daughter-in-law,
brother-in-law,
or
sister-in-law;
or
20
grandparent
or
grandchild.

inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
relates
to
the
viewing
of
a
missing
person
report
25
by
immediate
family
members
of
a
missing
person.

The
bill
provides
that
after
a
person
reported
missing
has
27
been
missing
for
five
or
more
years,
up
to
two
immediate
family
28
members
of
the
missing
person
shall
be
allowed
to
view
the
29
missing
person
report
and
any
updated
information
relating
30
to
the
missing
person
report
submitted
to
the
missing
person
31
information
clearinghouse.
The
department
of
public
safety

may
