Amusement
ride
attendants
——
1
minimum
age
——
training.

1.
An
attendant
who
controls
patron
restraints
or
the
3
operation,
starting,
stopping,
or
speed
of
an
amusement
ride
4
shall
be
at
least
sixteen
years
of
age.
5
2.
An
operator
shall
require
that
a
person
complete
training
6
as
provided
in
this
subsection
prior
to
beginning
work
as
an
7
attendant.
The
training
shall
consist
of,
at
minimum,
the
8
following
topics:
9
a.
The
operating
procedures
specific
to
any
amusement
ride
10
the
attendant
will
control,
including
the
specific
duties
11
applicable
to
each
of
the
amusement
ride’s
assigned
positions.

b.
The
general
procedures
of
the
carnival
or
fair.
13
c.
The
general
safety
procedures,
and
safety
procedures
14
specific
to
any
amusement
ride
the
attendant
will
control,
that
15
the
attendant
must
follow
in
the
event
of
an
unusual
condition,
16
interruption
in
operation,
injury,
emergency,
or
evacuation.

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
19
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
provides
that
an
attendant
who
controls
patron
21
restraints
or
the
operation,
starting,
stopping,
or
speed
of
an
22
amusement
ride
shall
be
at
least
16
years
of
age.

The
bill
requires
the
operator
of
a
carnival
or
fair
to
24
require
that
a
person
complete
training
prior
to
beginning
work
25
as
an
attendant.
The
bill
specifies
minimum
topics
for
such
26
training.
27
A
person
who
violates
any
order
or
rule
issued
by
the
labor
28
commissioner
pursuant
to
state
law
governing
inspection
of
29
amusement
rides
is
guilty
of
a
serious
misdemeanor.
A
serious
30
misdemeanor
is
punishable
by
confinement
for
no
more
than
one
31
year
and
a
fine
of
at
least
$430
but
not
more
than
$2,560.
