H.F. 470 Section 1. TRANSFERS TO THE STUDENT ACTIVITY FUND. For 1 the school budget year beginning July 1, 2020, the board of 2 directors may, by board resolution and notwithstanding the 3 school district’s certified budget or any provision of law to 4 the contrary, transfer from the school corporation’s general 5 fund or any other fund of the school corporation to the student 6 activity fund created in section 298A.8 an amount necessary 7 to fund cocurricular or extracurricular activities for which 8 moneys from student-related activities such as admissions, 9 activity fees, student dues, student fund-raising events, 10 or other student-related cocurricular or extracurricular 11 activities fail to meet the financial needs of the activity for 12 the school budget year beginning July 1, 2020. 13 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act, being deemed of immediate 14 importance, takes effect upon enactment. 15 EXPLANATION 16 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 17 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 18 This bill provides that for the school budget year beginning 19 July 1, 2020, the school board may, by resolution, transfer 20 from the school corporation’s general fund or any other fund of 21 the school corporation to the student activity fund an amount 22 necessary to fund cocurricular or extracurricular activities 23 for which moneys from admissions, activity fees, student 24 dues, student fund-raising events, or other student-related 25 cocurricular or extracurricular activities fail to meet the 26 financial needs of the activity. 27 The bill takes effect upon enactment. 28 -1- LSB 2315YH (2) 89 md/jh 1/ 1
