H.F. 2428 Section 1. Section 347.9A, Code 2022, is amended by adding 1 the following new subsection: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 4. This section does not apply to 3 compensation that a trustee receives pursuant to section 347.19 4 in the performance of the trustee’s duties. 5 Sec. 2. Section 347.19, Code 2022, is amended to read as 6 follows: 7 347.19 Compensation —— expenses. 8 A trustee shall not may receive any compensation for 9 services performed under this chapter , but and a trustee shall 10 be reimbursed for actual and necessary expenses incurred in the 11 performance of the trustee’s duties. 12 EXPLANATION 13 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 14 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 15 This bill relates to compensation for county hospital 16 trustees. Under current law, after voters of a county vote 17 to establish a county public hospital, the county board of 18 supervisors appoints residents to serve as members of the 19 hospital board of trustees. Current law prohibits a trustee 20 from receiving any compensation for services performed as 21 a trustee, except that a trustee shall be reimbursed for 22 actual and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of 23 the trustee’s duties. The bill allows a trustee to receive 24 compensation for services performed as a trustee.
