The board shall adopt rules pursuant to chapter 17A for 8 the implementation of this section. 9 Sec. 2. NEW SECTION . 68A.508 Contributions from political 10 committees prohibited. 11 A candidate or a candidate’s committee shall not accept a 12 contribution from a political committee. 13 EXPLANATION 14 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 15 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 16 This bill relates to certain political contributions and 17 expenditures. The bill prohibits a political committee, 18 currently defined in Code, from making an expenditure in this 19 state using funds derived from sources outside this state. The 20 bill also prohibits a candidate for a political office in this 21 state or a candidate’s committee from accepting a contribution 22 from a person not living in or incorporated or organized under 23 the laws of this state, or from any political committee. By 24 operation of law, a person who willfully violates a provision 25 of the bill is guilty of a serious misdemeanor.
