H.F. 2304 Section 1. Section 715A.1, Code 2022, is amended by adding 1 the following new subsection: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 2A. “Movie prop money” means a product 3 produced by a company or corporation to represent authentic 4 money for use by filmmakers, directors, or photographers for 5 use in film or theatrical productions or in print media. 6 Sec. 2. NEW SECTION . 715A.6C Movie prop money. 7 A person commits a class “D” felony if, with the intent to 8 defraud or injure anyone, the person utters movie prop money 9 for the purpose of obtaining property or services. 10 EXPLANATION 11 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 12 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 13 This bill relates to forgery involving movie prop money, and 14 provides penalties. 15 The bill provides that a person commits a class “D” felony 16 if, with the intent to defraud or injure anyone, the person 17 utters movie prop money for the purpose of obtaining property 18 or services. 19 The bill defines “movie prop money” as a product produced by 20 a company or corporation to represent authentic money for use 21 by filmmakers, directors, or photographers for use in film or 22 theatrical productions or in print media. 23 A class “D” felony is punishable by confinement for no more 24 than five years and a fine of at least $1,025 but not more than 25 $10,245. 26 -1- LSB 5947YH (4) 89 as/rh 1/ 1
