H.F. 2298 Section 1. NEW SECTION . 139A.8B COVID-19 immunization. 1 1. Notwithstanding whether a person’s attendance is in 2 person or virtual, immunization against COVID-19 shall not be 3 required for a person to be enrolled in any licensed child care 4 center, elementary or secondary school, or postsecondary school 5 in Iowa prior to July 1, 2029. 6 2. For the purposes of this section: 7 a. “COVID-19” means the disease caused by the novel 8 coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 or a virus mutating therefrom, and 9 conditions associated with the disease caused by the novel 10 coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 or a virus mutating therefrom. 11 b. “Postsecondary school” means a postsecondary institution 12 under the control of the state board of regents, a community 13 college established under chapter 260C, or an accredited 14 private institution as defined in section 261.9. 15 EXPLANATION 16 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 17 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 18 This bill prohibits requiring an immunization against 19 COVID-19 for a person to be enrolled in any licensed child 20 care center, elementary or secondary school, or postsecondary 21 school in Iowa prior to July 1, 2029, notwithstanding whether a 22 person’s attendance is in person or virtual. 23 -1- LSB 5027HV (1) 89 pf/rh 1/ 1
