Probate
courts.
1
1.
The
supreme
court
shall
cause
there
to
be
three
probate
2
courts
in
this
state.
One
shall
be
in
the
county
with
the
3
largest
population,
one
shall
be
in
an
eastern
county,
and
one
4
shall
be
in
a
western
county.
Each
probate
court
shall
consist
5
of
qualified
full-time
associate
probate
judges
as
provided
for
6
in
section
633.20B.

jurisdiction
of
the
probate
court
extends
to
the

jurisdiction
granted
the
district
court
under
the
probate
code,
9
chapter
633,
and
the
trust
code,
chapter
633A.

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s

the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
relates
to
probate
proceedings
and
instructs
the
14
Iowa
supreme
court
to
create
specialty
probate
courts.
One
15
probate
court
shall
be
in
the
largest
populated
county,
one
16
in
an
eastern
county,
and
the
third
one
in
a
western
county.
17
Under
current
law,
the
probate
code
(Code
chapter
633)
allows
a
18
full-time
associate
probate
judge
to
be
appointed,
but
only
one
19
county
is
currently
utilizing
the
option.
The
bill
requires
20
the
establishment
of
two
more
probate
courts
that
have
a
21
designated
probate
judge.
