H.F. 2204 Section 1. Section 257.11, Code 2022, is amended by adding 1 the following new subsection: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 7A. Student activity fund. 3 a. A supplementary weighting of one one-thousandth per pupil 4 shall be assigned to pupils included in the budget enrollment 5 of the school district. 6 b. Amounts received as the result of supplementary weighting 7 under this subsection shall be deposited in the school 8 district’s student activity fund and be used for the purposes 9 under section 298A.8, subsection 1. 10 Sec. 2. Section 298A.8, subsection 1, Code 2022, is amended 11 to read as follows: 12 1. The student activity fund is a special revenue fund. 13 A student activity fund must be established in any school 14 corporation receiving money from student-related activities 15 such as admissions, activity fees, student dues, student 16 fund-raising events, or other student-related cocurricular or 17 extracurricular activities. Moneys in this fund , including 18 amounts under section 257.11, subsection 7A, shall be used 19 to support only the cocurricular or extracurricular program 20 defined in department of education administrative rules. 21 Sec. 3. APPLICABILITY. This Act applies to school budget 22 years beginning on or after July 1, 2022. 23 EXPLANATION 24 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 25 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 26 This bill establishes student activity fund supplementary 27 weighting and includes applicability provisions. Supplementary 28 weighting of 0.001 per pupil shall be assigned to pupils 29 included in the budget enrollment of the school district. 30 Amounts received as the result of supplementary weighting under 31 the bill shall be deposited in the school district’s student 32 activity fund under Code section 298A.8 and be used for the 33 purposes of the fund. 34 The bill applies to school budget years beginning on or after 35 -1- LSB 6044YH (2) 89 md/jh 1/ 2
