H.F. 2163 Section 1. Section 618.3, subsection 2, Code 2022, is 1 amended by striking the subsection and inserting in lieu 2 thereof the following: 3 2. Is mailed to at least ninety percent of addresses in the 4 area. 5 Sec. 2. Section 618.3, subsection 4, Code 2022, is amended 6 by striking the subsection. 7 EXPLANATION 8 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 9 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 10 This bill relates to requirements for newspapers for 11 official publication of notices. The bill removes the 12 requirements that a newspaper have a list of subscribers who 13 have paid or promised to pay for copies of the newspaper and 14 that it is paid for by at least 50 percent of the persons to 15 whom it is distributed. The bill adds a requirement that the 16 newspaper is mailed to at least 90 percent of addresses in the 17 area. 18 -1- LSB 5028YH (1) 89 ss/rn 1/ 1
