H.F. 2052 Section 1. NEW SECTION . 279.76 Internet filtering. 1 A school district may filter internet sites so that no device 2 can connect to a social media site using the school district’s 3 servers. For the purposes of this section, “social media” means 4 electronic communication designed to allow users to create 5 communities for the purpose of sharing personal messages, 6 pictures, or videos. 7 EXPLANATION 8 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 9 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 10 This bill allows a school district to filter internet sites 11 so that no device can connect to a social media site using the 12 school district’s servers.
