H.F. 2027 Section 1. Section 7F.1, subsection 4, Code 2022, is amended 1 by adding the following new paragraph: 2 NEW PARAGRAPH . g. Submit an annual report to the governor 3 and the general assembly documenting the activities and results 4 of the office. 5 Sec. 2. Section 7F.1, Code 2022, is amended by adding the 6 following new subsection: 7 NEW SUBSECTION . 5. Costs. The office is authorized to 8 directly assess state agencies for extraordinary costs incurred 9 by the office in advocating for related federal policies and 10 positions. Amounts received by the office pursuant to this 11 subsection shall be retained by the office and considered 12 repayment receipts as defined in section 8.2. 13 Sec. 3. OFFICE FOR STATE-FEDERAL RELATIONS. There is 14 appropriated from the general fund of the state to the office 15 for state-federal relations for the fiscal year beginning July 16 1, 2022, and ending June 30, 2023, the following amount, or 17 so much thereof as is necessary, to be used for the purposes 18 designated: 19 For salaries, support, maintenance, miscellaneous purposes, 20 and for not more than the following full-time equivalent 21 positions: 22 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $ 300,000 23 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . FTEs 2.00 24 Of the amounts appropriated in this section, an amount not 25 to exceed $25,000 shall be used to establish and maintain 26 an internet site to provide state government officials with 27 greater access to current information on federal legislative 28 and executive actions affecting state government and to inform 29 the public on all aspects of its duties. 30 EXPLANATION 31 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 32 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 33 This bill concerns the office for state-federal relations. 34 Code section 7F.1, creating the office, is amended to 35 -1- LSB 5214YH (1) 89 ss/rn 1/ 2

H.F. 2027 provide that the office shall submit an annual report on the 1 activities of the office to the governor and the general 2 assembly. The Code section is also amended to authorize 3 the office to assess state agencies for extraordinary costs 4 incurred by the office in advocating for related federal 5 policies and positions and that any amounts received by the 6 office shall be retained by the office and considered repayment 7 receipts as defined in Code section 8.2. 8 The bill also appropriates funding for FY 2022-2023 from 9 the general fund of the state to the office for state-federal 10 relations.
