APPROPRIATION.
There
is
appropriated
from
the
general
fund
of

the
state
to
the
department
of
public
defense
for
the
fiscal

year
beginning
July
1,
2021,
and
ending
June
30,
2022,
the

following
amount,
or
so
much
thereof
as
is
necessary,
to
be
5
used
for
the
purposes
designated:

a
grant
to
an
entity
in
support
of
the

christening
and
commissioning
of
the
U.S.S.
Iowa
(SSN
797):

Sec.
2.
EFFECTIVE
DATE.
This
Act,
being
deemed
of
immediate

importance,
takes
effect
upon
enactment.

EXPLANATION

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
provides
a
general
fund
appropriation
to
the
15
department
of
public
defense
for
FY
2021-2022
to
provide
16
a
grant
to
an
entity
in
support
of
the
christening
and
17
commissioning
of
the
U.S.S.
Iowa
(SSN
797).
The
bill
takes
18
effect
upon
enactment.
