amended
to
read
as
follows:

(1)
Instructors
in
the
subject
area
of
career
and

technical
education
shall
be
registered,
certified,
or

licensed
in
the
occupational
area
in
which
the
state
requires
5
registration,
certification,
or
licensure,
and
shall
hold
the
6
appropriate
registration,
certificate,
or
license
for
the
7
occupational
area
in
which
the
instructor
is
teaching,
and
8
shall
meet
either
at
least
one
of
the
following
qualifications:

(a)
A
Possess
a
baccalaureate
or
graduate
degree
in
the
10
area
or
a
related
area
of
study
or
occupational
area
in
which
11
the
instructor
is
teaching
classes.

(b)
Special
Possess
an
associate
degree
in
the

career
and
technical
education
field
of
instruction
in
which
14
the
instructor
is
teaching,
if
such
degree
is
considered
15
terminal
for
that
field
of
instruction,
and
have
at
least
three

thousand
hours
of
recent
and
relevant
work
experience
in
the
17
occupational
area
or
related
occupational
area
in
which
the
18
instructor
teaches
classes.

thousand
hours
of

relevant
work
experience
in
the
occupational
area

in

This
bill
provides
another
option
by
which
an
instructor
may
2
qualify
to
teach
at
a
community
college
in
the
subject
area
3
of
career
and
technical
education
(CTE).
The
bill
permits
an
4
instructor
to
teach
CTE
classes
at
a
community
college
if
the
5
instructor
possesses
an
associate
degree
in
the
CTE
field
of
6
instruction
in
which
the
person
is
teaching,
if
such
degree
7
is
considered
terminal
for
that
field
of
instruction,
and
the
8
instructor
has
at
least
3,000
hours
of
recent
and
relevant
work
9
experience
in
the
area
in
which
the
instructor
teaches
classes.

Currently,
an
instructor
must
have
a
baccalaureate
or
11
graduate
degree
relating
to
the
area
in
which
the
instructor
is
12
teaching
classes
or,
if
the
instructor
possesses
less
than
a
13
baccalaureate
degree,
must
have
special
training
and
at
least
14
6,000
hours
of
recent
and
relevant
work
experience
in
the
area
15
in
which
the
instructor
teaches
classes.
In
the
latter
case,
16
if
the
instructor
is
a
licensed
practitioner
who
holds
a
career
17
and
technical
endorsement
under
Code
chapter
272,
classroom
18
instruction
can
be
used
to
meet
the
requirement
relating
to
19
relevant
work
experience,
and
the
bill
applies
this
language
to
20
the
new
option
as
well.
