WHEREAS,
Dr.
Duree
and
Dr.
Allen
have
contributed

52
years
of
combined
service
to
education
in
the
State
7
of
Iowa;
and
8
WHEREAS,
Dr.
Duree
and
Dr.
Allen
have
demonstrated
9
exemplary
service
and
performance
advocating
for
10
accessible
and
affordable
education
to
a
diverse
range
11
of
students;
and
12
WHEREAS,
Dr.
Duree
and
Dr.
Allen
have
served
in
many
13
capacities
as
leaders
of
their
colleges,
committed
to
14
developing
innovative
credit
and
non-credit
programs
15
serving
more
than
37,000
people
each
year;
and
16
WHEREAS,
under
the
leadership
of
Dr.
Duree
and
Dr.

Allen,
Iowa
Valley
Community
College
District
and

Hawkeye
Community
College
have
established
strong
19
working
relationships
with
business,
industry,
and
20
education
partners;
and

WHEREAS,
Dr.
Duree
and
Dr.
Allen
have
demonstrated

an
ability
to
be
responsive
to
the
specific
workforce

needs
of
Iowa’s
businesses
and
employers
to
compete
in

global
markets;
and

WHEREAS,
Dr.
Duree
and
Dr.
Allen
are
recognized

as
leaders
among
their
peers
in
providing
innovative

and
investment
in
adult

education
to
close
the
skills
gap
that
exists
in
our

communities;
and

WHEREAS,
Dr.
Duree
and
Dr.
Allen
have
been

recognized
statewide
and
nationally
for
their
support

of
initiatives
that
promote
student
success
and

retention
related
to
higher
education;
and

WHEREAS,
Dr.
Duree
and
Dr.
Allen
have
exemplified

the
true
mission
of
the
Iowa
Association
of
Community

College
Trustees
(IACCT),
and
have
both
been
honored

with
the
IACCT
Outstanding
Chief
Administrator

Award;
NOW
THEREFORE,

BE
IT
RESOLVED
BY
THE
SENATE,
That
the
Senate
hereby

congratulates
Dr.
Christopher
A.
Duree
and
Dr.
Linda

Allen
upon
their
respective
retirements
from
Iowa
19
Valley
Community
College
District
and
Hawkeye
Community

College
and
extends
its
sincere
gratitude
to
them

for
their
dedication
and
commitment
to
providing
all

students
with
a
quality
education
at
Iowa’s
community
