Senate Resolution 14 - Introduced SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 14 BY WAHLS , COURNOYER , and BOLKCOM A Resolution recognizing Megan Gustafson for her 1 outstanding academic and college basketball career 2 at the University of Iowa. 3 WHEREAS, Megan Gustafson emerged early in her 4 basketball career by being named to the Big Ten 5 all-freshman team during the 2015-2016 college 6 basketball season; and 7 WHEREAS, Ms. Gustafson solidified her place in Iowa 8 basketball history by being named first team all-Big 9 Ten by the conference coaches and media during her 10 sophomore, junior, and senior seasons while twice being 11 named Big Ten Player of the Year; and 12 WHEREAS, during Ms. Gustafson’s record-breaking 13 senior season, she became the all-time leading scorer 14 in University of Iowa basketball history while being 15 named Big Ten Player of the Week a record 12 times; and 16 WHEREAS, Ms. Gustafson’s senior season that included 17 leading the country in scoring per game, total points, 18 and field goal percentage, culminated with a Big Ten 19 Conference Tournament championship and the University 20 of Iowa women’s basketball team’s third straight 21 National Collegiate Athletic Association tournament 22 appearance; and 23 WHEREAS, Ms. Gustafson will end her career at the 24 University of Iowa as a two-time academic all-Big Ten 25 selection and as the school’s all-time leading scorer 26 and rebounder; and 27 WHEREAS, Ms. Gustafson was named the unanimous ESPNW 28 -1- LSB 2797XS (4) 88 md/rn 1/ 2

S.R. 14 college basketball Player of the Year for the 2018-2019 1 college basketball season; and 2 WHEREAS, Ms. Gustafson has been named one of the 3 finalists for the 2019 Lisa Leslie Award, given by 4 the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the 5 Women’s Basketball Coaches Association; the Women’s 6 Basketball Coaches Association’s Wade Trophy; the John 7 R.
