Senate Resolution 120 - Introduced SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 120 BY COMMITTEE ON RULES AND ADMINISTRATION A Resolution honoring Senator Mark Segebart for his 1 years of service in the Iowa General Assembly. 2 WHEREAS, Mark Segebart was born and raised in 3 Crawford County, received a Bachelor of Science degree 4 in forestry from Iowa State University, and is a sixth 5 generation family farmer residing on a farm near Vail, 6 Iowa; and 7 WHEREAS, Senator Segebart is a community leader, 8 having served as a Crawford County supervisor for 9 16 years, serving as a member and past president of 10 the Crawford County Cattlemen’s Association; the 11 Iowa Soybean Association; the Iowa Corn Growers 12 Association; the Crawford County Board of Health; the 13 Buena Vista, Crawford, and Sac County Early Childhood 14 Iowa Empowerment Board; the WESCO Industries Board of 15 Directors; and the Crawford County Early Childhood 16 Center Board; and 17 WHEREAS, Senator Segebart has served in the Iowa 18 Senate since 2013, representing District 6 which covers 19 Buena Vista, Sac, Carroll, and Audubon counties, and 20 portions of Crawford County; and 21 WHEREAS, during his Senate tenure, Senator Segebart 22 has served with the earnestness befitting the gravity 23 of the issues presented, tempered by an affable manner 24 and a dry sense of humor; and 25 WHEREAS, during his Senate tenure, Senator Segebart 26 served on the Agriculture, Appropriations, Human 27 Resources, Local Government, Natural Resources and 28 -1- LSB 6412SV (2) 88 pf/rn 1/ 2
S.R. 120 Environment, and Veterans Affairs committees; the 1 Joint Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and Human 2 Services; and the Health Policy Oversight Committee of 3 the Legislative Council; and 4 WHEREAS, during his Senate tenure, Senator Segebart 5 has also served on various councils, committees, and 6 commissions including the Center for Rural Health and 7 Primary Care Advisory Committee, the State Child Care 8 Advisory Committee, the Council on Human Services, 9 the Governmental Public Health Advisory Council, the 10 Commission on Aging, the Medical Assistance Projections 11 and Assessment Council, the Integrated Health Care 12 Delivery Models and Multi-Payer Delivery Systems Study 13 Committee, the Mental Health and Disability Services 14 Redesign Fiscal Viability Study Committee, and the 15 Mental Health and Disability Services Funding Study 16 Committee; and 17 WHEREAS, Senator Segebart and his wife, Catherine, 18 also an advocate for children including throughout 19 her lifelong career as a public school teacher, 20 have been married for 46 years and are the proud 21 parents of two children, Martha and Alex, and of two 22 grandchildren; NOW THEREFORE, 23 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate honors 24 and thanks Senator Mark Segebart for his years of 25 public service to the Senate and the State of Iowa, and 26 wishes him and his family all the best in the years to 27 come. 28 -2- LSB 6412SV (2) 88 pf/rn 2/ 2
