TAYLOR and GREENE A Resolution celebrating the 100th anniversary of 1 Southeastern Community College. 2 WHEREAS, 2020 marks the 100th anniversary of 3 Southeastern Community College; and 4 WHEREAS, since 1920, Southeastern Community 5 College has helped over 100,000 students achieve their 6 educational goals and make better lives for themselves, 7 their families, and their communities by being the 8 go-to provider of an affordable, accessible, and 9 quality college education; and 10 WHEREAS, Southeastern Community College contributes 11 millions of dollars to Iowa’s economy annually by 12 providing high-quality jobs, buying local goods and 13 services, and helping produce talented workers to 14 fill vital positions in all sectors of Iowa’s economy, 15 including manufacturing, health care, small businesses, 16 and a myriad of service providers; and 17 WHEREAS, Southeastern Community College continues 18 to provide relevant, up-to-date training and learning 19 opportunities for area workers who, in turn, enable 20 businesses and industries throughout Iowa to compete in 21 the global marketplace; and 22 WHEREAS, Southeastern Community College serves 23 as an organization dedicated to uniting Iowa by 24 delivering programs and services that make all of 25 Iowa’s communities stronger together through a more 26 educated and skilled citizenry with a shared sense of 27 purpose and a goal of collective prosperity; and 28 -1- LSB 6380XS (2) 88 mo/rn 1/ 2

S.R. 108 WHEREAS, many Southeastern Community College 1 graduates have made advancements in the areas of 2 science, technology, and medicine, achieved athletic 3 greatness, built successful businesses, and contributed 4 to the betterment of their communities; NOW THEREFORE, 5 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate 6 congratulates Southeastern Community College as it 7 celebrates its 100th anniversary. 8 -2- LSB 6380XS (2) 88 mo/rn 2/ 2
